Time is Up: Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2020, Lisbon, PT, ( :at the breakdown of the virtual event)

Cosy and at a safe distance, but yet missing incredibly the magic of the city of Lisbon - probably the most beautiful capital in Europe - going through the virtual event of Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2020, gives every world citizen living in an urban environment an extensive view of what is coming next - or shall we say what needs to be done.  Producing a "Smart City"or a city based on digital planning and working on intelligent systems is definitely a challenge but also the no-turn-back project for the 21st century. Traditional metropolises like London and Paris, ancient cities like Athens and Rome, modern towns like Helsinki or Hamburg -they all encounter the need to adopt smart mobility, clean energy, eco-sustainability, smart management for water and waste. In this cloud engineering grid that requires system administration and digital infrastructure of an endless "app map", data protection, security and privacy are pivotal issues, that can make or break local governments and corporate giants in the likes of Google and Microsoft. At the same time cities are becoming more in need to keep up with their humane profile: new communities are born to create sharing ambiances and support networks for those who where previously excluded.

“With good design and planning, nowadays technology makes it possible to manage data by objectives. By knowing what data is relevant, we can extract it right from the source through edge computing. ”

This year particularly, the event will focus on the health and well-being of populations in urban centers.
More than 9000 visitors, 200 exhibitors and 90 speakers will discuss throughout the three days of the congress the organization inside the cities of the world, projecting to the upcoming decades.
